Hospital lithium battery UPS
Medical sites have the highest demand for continuity of supply, and add their own requirements for clean, low-maintenance batteries. We provided lithium UPS backup for the critical equipment on site.
On a medical site, backup power is not a convenience — a break of even a fraction of a second is not acceptable.
Configuration: 1 × lithium (LiFePO4) UPS
The challenge
Critical equipment could not tolerate any momentary loss of supply. The batteries also had to sit near treatment areas, which placed a premium on keeping dust, acid mist and day-to-day maintenance away from those spaces.
What we did
We used a LiFePO4 battery UPS. Lithium cells are sealed and give off no acid mist in normal operation, and they need no watering, which suits a space with higher cleanliness requirements. The pack is protected by a BMS and connected to monitoring, so any fault raises an alarm immediately.
The result
Critical equipment now rides through mains fluctuations and outages without disturbance. The battery area needs no special ventilation, and routine attention is limited to checking the alarm status.
