UPS and two lithium packs for a small CCTV system
The existing CCTV system had no backup at all, the cabinet had little space left, and the customer did not want the site rewired. A UPS and two small lithium packs covered the recording and switching loads.
An existing monitoring system can often be given backup without touching the wiring that is already in place.
Configuration: 1 × UPS + 2 × lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery packs
The challenge
The existing monitoring system had no backup power at all. Space inside the cabinet was limited, and the customer did not want the original wiring reworked across the site — the task was to add protection to what was already installed rather than to rebuild it.
What we did
We added a UPS and two lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery packs inside the monitoring cabinet, keeping the existing supply circuit and bringing only the recording unit and the network switch onto the UPS. Because the packs are small, they could be wall-mounted or placed at the bottom of the cabinet without disturbing the equipment already installed.
The result
Recording no longer stops when the power fails. The work was small in scope and quick to carry out, which is what makes this approach practical for adding backup point by point to a system that is already running.
