RT2U and RT3U refer to 2U and 3U chassis heights — same capacity, but the 3U body has more internal room and airflow. Power factor is 1.0 (VA = W), so the real driving capability is honest.
Who this suits
The 5PX is the "good enough, done properly" answer. For servers, network gear, POS or surveillance on a normal site supply, the line-interactive architecture is efficient, runs cool and is priced fairly.
Move up to the 9PX online range if any of these apply: frequent sags or brownouts on the supply; waveform-sensitive equipment (precision instruments, medical); or a requirement for output fully isolated from the mains.
Why "pure sine wave" matters
Cheap UPS units often output a simulated (stepped) sine wave. That is tolerable for transformer-based supplies — and problematic for active PFC supplies, which nearly all current servers and switches use: audible noise, extra heat, sometimes a failure to transfer to battery at all. This is the most overlooked — and most expensive — mistake in UPS buying.
Key features
- Line-interactive with built-in automatic voltage regulation (AVR) — mains sags and surges are corrected without draining the battery
- Pure sine wave output, safe for servers and network gear with active PFC supplies
- Rack or tower out of the box — rack brackets included
- Expandable battery module extends runtime without replacing the unit
- USB and serial ports with power-management software for automatic shutdown
- Optional network management card brings the UPS into your existing monitoring
Where it fits
SME machine room
A switch plus a few servers — 5PX covers it without buying a three-phase frame for a small load.
Shops and offices
Short-ride-through backup for POS, tills and network gear, so a trip does not interrupt a sale.
Surveillance and access control
Recorders and door controllers stay up through an outage, keeping footage and access running.
