Crossing a threshold: installation conditions start to matter
A small battery can be put almost anywhere without trouble. At medium capacity, the installation conditions decide how long the string actually lasts.
Three places it goes wrong:
1. Loading. The total weight of a medium string is routinely underestimated. On an ordinary shelf or an unstrengthened floor it can deform or topple. Confirm the load capacity before installation.
2. Cooling. Blocks in the middle of a string run hotter than those at the ends, and a sustained temperature difference ages them unevenly — the string performs to its weakest block. Blocks need ventilation clearance and the battery room needs basic airflow.
3. Connection quality. A loose terminal raises contact resistance and causes local heating, and it is a common cause of battery incidents. Torque to specification at installation, and re-check at each service.
Practical maintenance
- Annual terminal voltage measurement: find the blocks reading noticeably low and deal with them early.
- An actual discharge test every 1–2 years: the only way to confirm how much capacity is really left.
- Keep a record: retaining the measured figures shows the trend, instead of "it feels worse than before".
- Watch the temperature: if the battery room runs hot, improve the ventilation or air-conditioning first, or even the best batteries will be wasted.
What we provide
String sizing (voltage, capacity, number of strings), installation with a loading and cooling assessment, full string replacement, old battery collection, and a measured discharge test with a record on handover. This can sit under an annual maintenance contract that tracks battery health over time.
Key features
- Medium capacity, for UPS systems needing longer runtime or a larger load
- Valve-regulated (VRLA), maintenance-free
- Designed for float duty in UPS and DC systems
- Can be combined into multiple parallel strings where needed
- For machine rooms, telecom sites and power systems
Where it fits
Mid-size machine room UPS
Systems needing longer runtime or a larger load, built from several blocks into the required string.
Power and telecom DC switchboards
Backup energy for DC operating supplies.
Sites where replacement is expensive
Where the work itself costs a lot, durability and consistency matter more.
